What we offer at Sunny Street Therapy
-
We work with the child and family to identify the specific fine motor tasks that matter most to them – whether it's tying shoelaces before school or being able to open their lunchbox independently. Therapy is playful, strengths-based, and involves strategies parents can use at home.
-
We involve the family in setting movement goals that align with the child’s daily life – like keeping up with siblings at the park or confidently climbing at the playground. We offer fun, achievable exercises that fit into routines and build confidence.
-
We listen to families lived experiences, helping them understand their child’s sensory preferences and needs. Together, we create practical strategies for home, school, and the community to reduce overwhelm and support regulation.
-
We collaborate with parents and educators to develop strategies that support the child’s transition into school. We make therapy activities engaging and relevant to classroom routines, while respecting each child’s learning style.
-
We work with children to identify and understand their emotions in ways that make sense to them. Families are coached on how to respond supportively during meltdowns or times of stress.
-
We follow the child’s lead to encourage meaningful social play, whether it’s learning turn-taking or initiating conversations. Parents are supported in learning how to coach and model social behaviours in everyday settings.
-
We empower our clients to participate in self-care tasks at their own pace, celebrating every small win. We involve caregivers in goal setting and tailor strategies to fit within the family’s routine and cultural values.
-
We work closely with families to identify concerns early and create an individualised plan that reflects their goals and values. Parents/carers are key partners in the therapy journey, with regular check-ins and ongoing support.
-
We support parents as the experts on their child. Through coaching, we co-develop practical, realistic strategies for morning routines, mealtimes or transitions that work in real life.
-
We act as part of a team around the child, ensuring therapy strategies are consistent across environments. We respect family preferences about who we communicate with and involve parents in all decisions.
-
Detailed assessments that provide a clear picture of an individual’s strengths, challenges, and support needs—ideal for NDIS planning, reviews and goal setting.
